freedom1 is announcing that one of the most resourceful websites on Nepali media, electoral process and constitution writing, it had been running for almost four years- www.nepalelectionchannel.org– is being closed soon owing to severe financial crunch.

The website launched in 2011 remained a knowledge centre for media persons, advocates, researchers, journalism students, policy makers, legal practitioners and parliamentarians, among others as it had voluminous news stories, documents, opinion (expert views), reports on media, legislative activities focusing constitution writing process, and political development. The website was a tremendous help for anyone willing to whet knowledge on Nepali media and legislative process. It also served the interests of those making debate and discussion on the pressing issues of the time which obviously helped a lot to prosper democratic process in Nepal.

The materials in the website clearly reflect how it meticulously observed both the first and second elections of the Constituent Assembly, which were of tremendous value on Nepal’s democratic history. It had got wider readership from across the country and abroad in a short time, drawing very positive remarks.

However, freedom1 Forum restores the website once there is favourable atmosphere with any projects and programmes fitting the above mentioned issues. So, the website will remain dormant for some time.
