NE-FirstLotIn a bid to produce RTI activists at the local level and to prod the supply side, the first lot of Training on RTI focusing Municipality and Governance kicked off at freedom1 Forum, Kathmandu, on May 25, 2013.

A total of 15 youths-each three from five municipalities from different districts-have participated in the training.

The municipalities are- Bhimdatt of Kanchanpur, Narayan of Dailekh, Byas of Tanahau, Dhulkhel of Kavre and Dharan of Sunsari.

Among the total, eight are women.

freedom1 Forum Chairman Taranath Dahal and senior journalist and General Secretary Dharmendra Jha are facilitating the training.

Opening the training, Chairman Dahal said the training is organized to help foster access to information and social accountability in the local level. The training would help the participants to create atmosphere for good governance by making the local public agencies practice transparency and accountability.

Similarly, Mr Jha said the participants would learn both theoretical and practical aspects of RTI during the training.

Executive Director Krishna Sapkota and Program Manager Anirudra Neupane said the training would help better society with the practice of social accountability in the local level. They expected the enthusiastic and active performance of the participants during the training.
