The National Election Monitoring Alliance (NEMA) is
an alliance of 14 non-governmental, civil and social organizations in Nepal
with the objectives to facilitate the development of a sustainable civil
society network to develop and conduct comprehensive non-partisan election
observation, and the ability to contribute to longer-term democratization and
to deter malpractice and enhance the transparency, integrity and credibility of
the elections.

Kathmandu-Working Journalist Regulation Draft Committee Coordinator Shiva Gaunle and its members duo, Prateek Pradhan, Editor of The Kathmandu Post, a national daily and Ujjwal Sharma of The Himalayan Times, another national daily resigned from their respective posts citing that there was no favourable working environment in connection of drafting the regulation.

Freedom Forum, the leading organization in the Right to Information (RTI) movement in Nepal, welcomes the formation of National Information Commission (NIC) however it came into existence after 10 months of the promulgation of much-awaited Right to Information Act-2007 and, at the same time, expresses dissatisfaction regarding the time, formation process and persons appointed in the post of commissioners of NIC.
Pre-censorship of Film Violates Freedom of Expression

Kathmandu-Development Board has imposed prior censorship and
disapproved the film script developed for the production of film
‘Kalapani’. With this, film producer Kishan Pokharel has to pull out
his hand from the production of this film.

Kathmandu-The District Court Kathmandu has decided to provide a
compensation of Rs. 30,000 from the government for illegal detention
and torture to journalist Bijaya Raj Acharya, Executive Chairman of the
Kathmandu Sirjanshil Prakashan Pvt. Ltd. on a case of compensation.
