freedom1 Forum organized a national seminar on Education and Social Justice in collaboration with the National Commission for UNESCO in the capital on May 28, 2012.

Two working papers- Social Justice in Modern Education by Dr Ananda Poudel, Director of the Curriculum Development Centre and Social Justice in Oriental Education System by senior litterateur Dr Tulsi Bhattarai were presented in the seminar.

At the program presided over by freedom1 Forum Chairperson Taranatha Dahal, Vice-Chairperson Hari Binod Adhikari shed light on the objectives and agenda of the seminar.

He said the seminar was organized to discuss about the condition of social justice in Nepali education system.

On the occasion, Professor Dr Govinda Raj Bhattarai and Professor Bidya Nath Koirala commented about the paper- Social Justice in Modern Education while Professor Dr Raja Ram Subedi made comments on the Social Justice in Oriental Education System.

Participating in the seminar, Joint Secretary at the Education Ministry, Janardan Nepal, Head of the Department of Social Justice and Population, Keshav Adhikari, expert on social justice Dr Nakul Baniya, Joint Secretary and Controller of Examination, Sanothimi Dilli Rimal put forth their views about how social justice could be ensured in Nepali education system.

The seminar was very fruitful to discuss the weaknesses and provisions in Nepal’s educational programmes and system relating to the social justice. It has helped create debate in the educational system about social justice.
