Legislators in Nepal say they are committed to cooperate with all sectors in bringing a pro-people law to ensure 'Right to Information' in Nepal. Addressing a national seminar on 'Right to Information' in the capital today, they said ensuring citizen' access to public information was indeed very important to consolidate democracy.


Freedom Forum organized a one-day seminar on 'Social Inclusion and Madhesh' in the eastern city of Rajbiraj on 21 August 2007 to facilitate the discussion of social inclusion in the context of Madhesh Movement.


Freedom Forum organized various programs to mark International Right to Know Day on for the first time in Nepal. Organizations working for right to information all over the world has initiated celebrating 28 September as International Right to Know Day since 2002.


Pokhara. Representatives of various political parties and civil society as well as administrative bodies have expressed the view that the achievement of democratic struggle could not be satisfactorily protected unless citizens are empowered with "right to information".


Nepal has seen a new political context and new national and public security scenario after the reestablishment of Parliament resulting the ousting of active monarchy and participation of CPN (Maoist) in the government. After the pause in the more-than-decade long insurgency and inclusion of dissident group in the Parliament and government, the issue of public security is one of the important issues Nepal has to seriously work out.
