freedom1 Forum began the third lot of a 5-day training on practical use of RTI focusing municipality and governance in Kathmandu from June 8, 2013. It is organized with the aim of improving service delivery of local government by strengthening the implementation of the RTI Act.

Opening the training, Chairman of freedom1 Forum, Taranath Dahal, said the program was organised for 15 vibrant youths- three each from five municipalities in different parts of the country. He also informed the participants about what they would learn during the training.

“Knowledge on RTI and its use in the local level would not only make people aware about their right to information but also helps to maintain transparency and accountability in the public agencies,” he added.

Similarly, another facilitator and senior journalist Dharmendra Jha said the training would impart practical and theoretical knowledge about RTI, the best tool to bring change in society.

Program Officer Anirudra Nepaune urged the trainee to be inquisitive and have active presence during the training. The training would not only help understand what RTI is but also contribute to change society and governance. Once the RTI is used properly, the governance in local level would be accountable and transparent.

A total of 15 representatives from Bhimdutta Municipality of Kanchanpur, Byas of Tanahu, Dhulikhel of Kavre and Dharan of Sunsari are attending the training.
