Orientation on RTI Nepal App at Karnali Province

In view of the hefty flow of budget and human resources at the local level following the federal systems, transparency is a key issue to be discussed and debated. The use of authority, budget, and mobilization of human resources need to be transparent and accountable for good governance. In order to promote good governance, RTI is an effective tool. So, Freedom Forum's representative for Karnali Province Laxmi Bhandari conducted an orientation on Right to Information and its mobile application RTINepal developed by Freedom Forum with women and youth group. The program was conducted in Surkhet on April 5 and April 12 separately among 20 women and 60 students.   The activity was carried out as part of the project - Contributing to the Atmosphere Conducive to FoE, Reduced Impunity and Inclusive Media (CACFRIIM). The main objective of the program was to inform women and youth groups about Right to Information and use of RTI Nepal app to request information of public concern at local levels. During the program, participants were excited to know about the app and have also committed to request information at public agencies when required. They have also recommended conducting such programs among other community groups. Following the orientation program, one of the participants has filed an application at Birendranagar Municipality demanding information on budget allocation for women using RTI.
