Curriculum Development Centre urged to include RTI Issues on School Books

The Executive Director, Curriculum Development Centre, Sanothimi Ref: Request to include RTI issues in the school curriculum Dear Sir, It is an information era these days. The source of information is education. And, school is the foundation of any citizen's education. School is the platform where children learn good things needed for future life. There is no dispute that children are inculcated the knowledge on garnering information and their use in order to ease their entire life. Our organization, freedom1 Forum, has been advocating continuously for the citizen's right to information. We, through our organization, are preparing citizens' leadership on RTI. We are of the view that if the school children are made to practice on their access to information, none would be deprived of daily service and facilities they should get in future. Therefore, it is our humble request that RTI issues could be included especially in the subjects deemed useful to daily life and the optional subjects that are related to the human rights, social justice, journalism, law. It is high time the RTI issues are included in the social study, citizen's study, journalism, economics and others. We are ready to provide help including expert service if needed. Only informed and aware citizenry and transparent administration can save the democracy. It helps to create the culture of transparency, accountability and self-discipline need to democracy. Therefore, it is our humble request to include such issues in the school curriculum that helps produce moral citizen. -------------------------------- Taranath Dahal Chairman freedom1 Forum Thapathali, Kathmandu
