The second lot of a 5-day training on practical use of RTI focusing municipality and governance begun in Kathmandu from June 1, 2013 has successfully completed (on June 5).
The training organized by the freedom1 Forum was aimed at producing RTI activists at the local level to help improve the service delivery of local government by strengthening the implementation of the RTI Act.
Speaking at the concluding session of the training, Chairman of freedom1 Forum, Taranath Dahal, said he was very hopeful that the participants were catered some knowledge on RTI which would bring change not only in their society but also help improve the system, with better practice of good governance with transparency and accountability. The RTI would be a great tool to expose corruption and any other irregularities in the governance, he added.
Another facilitator and senior journalist Dharmendra Jha thanked the participants for their attention and patience during the training. He requested all to utilize the RTI and feel the change in governance in the local bodies.
On the occasion, Acting Chief Information Commissioner Shree Acharya thanked freedom1 Forum and trainees for their great support in spreading the regime of RTI across the country. Once the RTI knowledge was spread throughout the country, he said, every malpractice and corruption in the local to central governance would come to an end.
He distributed the certificates to the trainees.
A total of 15 representatives each three from Bhimdutta Municipality of Kanchanpur, Byas of Tanahu, Dhulikhel of Kavre and Dharan of Sunsari had attended the training.
