freedom1 Forum is pleased to inform you that Information and Human Rights Study Centre, Banke, has honored Chairman of the freedom1 Forum, Taranath Dahal, amidst a programme in Nepalgunj on March 10.
Mr Dahal was honoured in recognition to his untiring campaign and activism on the right to information (RTI) for over a decade in the country.
Chief Justice Bam Kumar Shrestha from the Appellate Court of Nepalgunj honored senior RTI activist Mr Dahal by offering a shawl and cap with imprints of ‘Right to Information’, and providing him a felicitation letter, at the programme presided over by Centre Chairman Bishwojit Tiwari.
The honor to Chairman Dahal is the first of its kind that the RTI activist is respected for his/her contribution to building open society through good governance with the advocacy of the RTI.
On the occasion, Chief Justice Shrestha of the Appellate Court said the use of the RTI should be augmented to prepare informed citizenry for able society.
Similarly, honored personality Mr Dahal said the honour has made him more responsible to expand the RTI regime with vibrant campaign for information, advocating good governance and transparency.
According to him, the nationwide campaign for RTI was continuous and no campaigner would lag the RTI activism.
Chairperson Dahal has a leading role on the initiation and continuation of the RTI campaign for over a decade in the country. As a result, the public agencies are being transparent with gradual adherence to the RTI, which is indeed a beginning of a democratic practice and the empowerment of citizens.
