A common forum of the experts on right to information (RTI) from all eight countries of the SAARC has been formed in Kathmandu on Tuesday in a bid to formulate an act on RTI, implement the existing laws and create public awareness in the grassroots level on RTI.
At a closing ceremony of the two-day national convention on RTI organized by the freedom1 Forum, an advisory group on RTI was declared. The group comprises 16 members from the parliamentarian, RTI officers, media persons, academicians and representatives of civil society from all 8 countries of the region.
Chairman of the freedom1 Forum, Taranath Dahal, World Bank representative Bikram Chand and Chief of the Information Commission of Bangladesh, Muhammad Jamir shed light on the objectives of the group.
The group will meet twice a year and create massive awareness writing features, articles, interviews and others o RTI.The RTI is a tool for democracy, and the rights of the people and country, said Chief information Commissioner of Nepal, Vinay Kasajoo
