A five-day training on practical use of right to information (second-phase) began in the capital from Saturday (June 1, 2013) with a view to improving service delivery of local government by strengthening the implementation of the RTI Act.
The programme was organised targeting five municipalities in different parts of the country, said Taranath Dahal, Chairman of freedom1 Forum which organized the training. freedom1 Forum is a civil society organization.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Sher Bahadur Dhungana, President of Information Officers’ Society Nepal and Spokesperson of National Vigilance Centre said that every government activity of public interests shall be transparent henceforth.
Facilitators Taranath Dahal and Dharmendra Jha said trainees would be imparted with theoretical and practical aspects on the various RTI matters from experts. The event will mainly focus on theoretical knowledge of RTI, constitutional and legal provisions prevailing in Nepal to that end and process of getting information from the bodies concerned, among others, Dahal said.
A total of 15 representatives from Bhimdutta Municipality in Kanchanpur, Byas in Tanahu, Dhulikhel in Kavre and Dharan in Sunsari are attending the training.
