The third lot of the 5-day training cum internship on practical use of RTI organized at SAP Falcha of Thapathali, Kathmandu concluded successfully on November 26, 2012.

It was organized by the freedom1 Forum as part of its strategic campaign for promoting demand for information so as to produce a group of RTI activists and promote its practices at local level in a sustainable manner.

Ten vibrant activists from different districts of the country participated in the training where they were imparted orientation on theoretical and practical aspects of the Right to Information (RTI).

The training was aimed at making them able to identify cases of RTI, filing application, demanding public and individual service related information, practice the entire processes involved in requesting information, follow-up of the request, complaint and appeal in the line with the RTI Act 2007 and Regulations-2008.

FF Chairman Taranath Dahal, journalist and facilitator Dharmendra Jha and RTI Support Centre Facilitator at FF, Sanjeeb Ghimire, Executive Director CCRI Tanka Aryal, and Executive Director at FF Krishna Sapkota provided the training.

During the training, each intern made action plan to materialize the effective practice of RTI at their respective districts.

They were taken to the Office of the National Information Commission, Koteshwor, where they had interaction with NIC officials and garnered further knowledge about RTI.

Similarly, the trainees, in the practical session, filed applications in different public agencies, including the central administrative agency in the Singha Durbar.

In the concluding session of the five-day training, FF Chairman Dahal expressed hope that the trainees would put into practice the knowledge and skills they gained during the training.

Similarly, the trainees said they were very eager to make their local bodies and public agencies transparent and accountable by putting into practice the knowledge they acquired during the training.
They are now filing applications in different public agencies regarding pension, scholarship, government allowance, health, education and issues of public concerns as per the action plan they formulated.
